Solar Innovations, Inc. Achieves Florida Impact Testing for G3 Multi-Slide and G3 Lift Slide Door Systems

Pine Grove, PA, June 26, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Solar Innovations, Inc., a custom manufacturer of residential and commercial sliding, folding, and stacking walls, doors, windows, and screens; sunrooms; greenhouses; conservatories; skylights; and curtain walls; completes impact testing on G3 Multi-Slide and G3 Lift Slide doors in multiple configurations.

Solar Innovations, Inc. recently completed air, water, structural, and impact testing for the thermally broken G3 door system in lift slide and multi-slide door configurations. Solar is currently in the process of applying for a Florida Product Approval number. These systems are available for impact use immediately utilizing engineering evaluations of the completed tests. Although the two systems share the same ¾" ADA sill with 1½" upleg for the test, the lift slide system provides better water performance and greater ease of operation when in use. It is important to note, impact certified products can be increased in size by up to 5% in either panel height or width; both of the impact tested systems are available in ten foot tall panels. The units tested were glazed with 1¼" insulated units containing a .090 SGP interlayer. Solar also offers several LowE glazing options with a system U-Value as low as 0.29 based on selected glazing. The two systems were tested for all straight configurations including pocket configurations. The results of the tests are listed below.

SI8600 G3 Multi-Slide Testing Results:
Tested Including 5% one direction only
Panel Height: 115 inches Max Panel Height: 120¾ inches*
Panel Width: 60 inches Max Panel Width: 63 inches*
Air Infiltration at 1.57 PSF (25MPH) = 0.1 L/s/m²
Water Penetration: 8 PSF
Design Pressure: +/- 70 PSF
Uniform Load Structural Test: +/- 70 PSF
Overload: +/- 105 PSF
Impact and Cycling: +/- 70 PSF
SI8600LS G3 Lift Slide Testing Results:
Tested Including 5% one direction only
Panel Height: 115 inches Max Panel Height: 120¾ inches*
Panel Width: 60 inches Max Panel Width: 63 inches*
Air Infiltration at 1.57 PSF (25MPH) = .02 L/s/m²
Air Infiltration at 6.24PSF (50MPH)= .07 L/s/m²
Water Penetration: 12 PSF
Design Pressure: +/- 75 PSF
Uniform Load Structural Test: +/- 75 PSF
Overload: +/- 112.5 PSF
Impact and Cycling: +/- 70 PSF
* Can only choose max height or max width, cannot choose both.

Solar Innovations, Inc. will also be testing a no post corner configuration, a tile sill option for uninterrupted tile floor conditions, and a higher performing sill option in the next three months. With the higher performing sill option, Solar expects to receive a water penetration performance number of 15 PSF for the G3 Multi-Slide doors and an unprecedented 20 PSF for the G3 Lift Slide doors.

Solar’s results are pending final test reports certified by a nationally recognized third party. When project specific tests are required, Solar’s in-house test lab offers the unique opportunity to execute tests quickly with nationally recognized third party certification.
