Taking Africa from Summit to Success - Leadership & Entrepreneurship Incubator Builds on Momentum of the US-Africa Leaders Summit
Oakland, CA, August 12, 2014 --(PR.com
)-- As the US-Africa Leaders Summit comes to a close, attention turns to implementing initiatives that can catalyze the vast potential in African economies. Asante Africa Foundation’s Leadership & Entrepreneurship Incubator (LEI) is in its 4th year of doing just that, and has just released an E-book highlighting the program’s unique approach to preparing youth with 21st century employment skills. The release was timed to coincide with the Summit, which was themed "Investing in the Next Generation."
“We are thrilled to see the US Government bringing focus to the untapped potential in Africa,” said Erna Grasz, founder and CEO of Asante Africa Foundation. “No region holds as much potential for growth. Education is critical to that potential, and our job is to ensure that Africa’s future producers and consumers have the skills to compete in a global marketplace.”
Africa is transforming from a continent in need of assistance to a continent of opportunity. Its economic growth is second only to East Asia, including China, with 8 of the world’s 15 fastest-growing economies from 2000-2013. The continent’s 2013 GDP of more than $2 trillion was larger than India’s. 1 But the inability to secure future talent with the right skills prevents firms from quickly scaling their [African] operations to meet demand and to launch new products and services.”2
Asante Africa Foundation aims to change that. The Leadership and Entrepreneurship Incubator is a catalyst that inspires vulnerable youth from deeply rural areas of East Africa to work with their peers across borders to develop life and leadership skills that will enable them to become successful leaders, entrepreneurs and global citizens. With defined dreams and plans to achieve them, plans to “pay it forward” in their home communities, and the confidence to lead with their peers and elders, the young adults create positive change throughout the year, magnifying the program’s impact.
