Benny Mardones, nicknamed "The Voice" thanks to his incredible four octave range as well as for his performances of Grammy-nominated single, "Into the Night," has been chosen to serve as the 2006 Honoree & Grand Marshall at the 4th Annual Ted Kroll Memorial Parkinson's Awareness Walk ( PAW ). The mile-long party featuring music, raffles, entertainment, and more will be held Saturday, September 16 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY, Inc. PAW raises funds to support its community outreach programs in addition to its Parkinson's/Movement Impairment Residence. The residence is the only one of its kind in the nation located in a nursing facility, serving as a model for the advanced care and treatment of Parkinson's and other movement-impairing diseases.

The registration fee for PAW is $25, which includes a free T-shirt. Pre-registration will take place Friday, September 15th and Saturday, September 16th from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. at the Presbyterian Home. Registration will also be available beginning at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event. The walk begins at 10:00 a.m. on the 16 th , and is wheelchair and walker friendly. 2006 boasts the start of a new tradition: a Rock-A-Thon to raise money and provide a better living environment for the care and treatment of Parkinson's survivors. Sit back in a rocking chair and see how long you can rock out to the music to benefit our charities. Our "mile long party" also offers refreshments, entertainment, music, raffles, magic, and many more surprises.

The 2006 honoree, Benny Mardones, was diagnosed with Parkinson's four years ago. Since then, he has made it his mission to bring awareness to and provide support for Parkinson's research as well as other related charities. Benny has performed nationally for over two decades, and continues to sing for sold-out crowds. He has shared the stage with Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones, and the Otis Redding Band; and has toured with Roy Orbison. Benny is continuing to write and record, just recently releasing a new full-length album entitled, Let's Hear it for Love . It is his first work of all-original material written solely by Mardones in over fifteen years. Thanks to the unwavering support of his fans in and around upstate New York, Benny thinks fondly of the area as his second home. Please join Benny and the Presbyterian Home for a day of fun, meet-and-greets and fund-raising to help support our Parkinson's residence and community outreach programs.
