Trupanion

Darren DeFeo joined Trupanion in June of 2008. He jumped immediately into the process of developing Trupanion's brand, adding his experience of having founded and grown a web-based business.

As Vice President of E-Commerce, Darren is covering Website Design, Analytics, SEO/SEM, Social Media, Community Management, Email Marketing and Affiliate Partnerships. Darren also managed the merge of the Canadian book of business with the US book of business, making Trupanion an international brand. Trupanion can now take international enrollments through a single website, opening the doors for Darren to pursue new customers and online affiliate partnerships throughout North America.

Prior to joining Trupanion, Darren in 1994 founded Coast to Coast Mortgage Services, a company which linked a network of over 200,000 independent contractors, individuals, and businesses within the mortgage industry. As CEO, Darren oversaw the creation of an interactive, streamlined website which allowed centralized, online correspondence between users. This innovative service eliminated the need to seek out small local businesses or individuals within the mortgage industry. Coast to Coast provided a platform and a centralized location at which all mortgage services players could come together to conduct business.

Darren grew Coast to Coast to be a multi-million dollar company within three years, recruiting a client base that included Bank of America, Wachovia, Countrywide Home Loans, Washington Mutual, Fifth Third Bank, Ocwen Financial, and over five hundred other financial institutions.

After twelve years with Coast to Coast, Darren began looking for a new venture about which he could be passionate. He became excited about Trupanion's product after many expensive trips to the veterinarian for his own pets, which introduced him to pet health insurance. With Darren's general concern for the well-being of all animals and his appreciation for the importance of relationships with pets - his Rhodesian Ridgeback, Safari, is by his side at the Trupanion office each day - the passion requirement for a new venture was met.

Darren is a proud graduate of the University of Southern California and earned his B.A. in May of 1991.
