Fairytale Brownies Partners with KaBOOM! and The Home Depot to Build Playground for Visually Impaired Children

Chandler, AZ, February 07, 2003 --(PR.com)-- Over the course of one workday, volunteers from Fairytale Brownies, The Home Depot and the Greater Phoenix community will build an entire playground, complete with slides, a sandbox, planter gardens and a walking path for the students at the Foundation for Blind Children.

The playground build is facilitated through a partnership between The Home Depot, Fairytale Brownies and KaBOOM! KaBOOM! is a non-profit organization with the mission "To inspire individuals, organizations and businesses to join together to build much-needed, safe and accessible playgrounds". Fairytale Brownies, a ten-year-old mail-order brownie bakery business, has supported KaBOOM! since 2001 by providing thousands of pounds of brownies to help feed hungry volunteers at playground builds across the country. And in 2002, Fairytale Brownies announced that a portion of the sale of every Thank You Assortment would be donated to KaBOOM! to help make the world a safer place to play.

KaBOOM! has helped to build more than 444 playgrounds in the U.S. Each build is commemorated with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a milk & Fairytale Brownies toast to dedicate the playground and recognize the many volunteers, businesses and supporters of the build.

The Foundation for Blind Children, the recipient of the new playground, is the only organization of its kind in Arizona, with a mission to help blind and visually impaired children and adults and their families lead literate, independent lives as masters of the world around them. The organization works to ensure that all children, despite their disability, can experience opportunities that should be available to every child.

"The Foundation for Blind Children is so pleased to be chosen to partner with Fairytale Brownies, Home Depot, and KaBOOM! to build a playground for blind children at our new Chandler, Arizona, facility. It will be a wonderful addition to the resources in the East Valley for special needs children," said Chris Tompkins, Director of The Foundation for Blind Children.
