Trident Workforce Investment Board Appoints Executive Committee Members

Charleston, SC, October 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Trident Workforce Investment Board (TWIB) elected the following Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester county board members to serve as the Executive Committee for the 2008 – 2009 year.

Lou DuBon was elected Chair; Jan Cappellini, was elected vice chair; and Jennifer Hook was elected 2nd vice chair.

DuBon, SPHR is the Senior Human Resources Manager at AGFA Materials Corporation. “As a member of TWIB for several years, I have witnessed the efforts, programs, and initiatives developed by Lowcountry social, education, and professional organizations to increase the skills and education of our youth and future workforce. We have made progress, but there is still a great deal of work to be done to insure that our workers have the professional and technical skills needed to successfully and efficiently complete the work required by our employers. I commend the Trident One Stop Career System staff for their commitment and services to the customers who come to the One Stop for education and training on their path to a better career.”

DuBon graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, with a degree in accounting. His professional affiliations include the Society for Human Resources Professionals, Lowcountry Industrial Relations Committee (past chair). South Carolina State Chamber of Commerce, Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Lowcountry Manufacturers Council, and the Trident Regional Education Center Advisory Board.

Cappellini is a principal and Director of Operations for Alternative Staffing, Inc. She graduated magna cum laude from Illinois State University with a degree in social work. She is a Certified Staffing Specialist by the National Association of Personnel Services as well as a Certified Staffing Professional by the American Staffing Association. Cappellini is a member of the North Charleston Rotary Club, the team leader for the Roundball Classic and has been a literacy coordinator for 7 years. Cappellini is the first female auxiliary probation officer in Charleston and a member of the three tri-county Chambers of Commerce.

“As Chair of the Trident Youth Advisory Council for the last few years, I had the distinct and wonderful opportunity to interact with One Stop staff and TOSCS partners, Palmetto Youth Connections and the Adult Education offices of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties. Our partners do an excellent job in educating and preparing our youth for employability in sustainable careers because they genuinely care; Caring truly makes a difference.”

Hook has over five years experience in human resources management, most recently as Senior Human Resources Generalist, Corporate Human Resources and Benefits Coordinator, Senior Human Resources Specialist, Training Coordinator, and Training Instructor-Human Resources with American LaFrance, LLC. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology and master’s degree in human resources development from Clemson University, Clemson, SC.

“I have a passion concerning local workforce issues,” said Hook. “As a member of the TWIB and Chair of its Outreach Committee, I have the privilege of serving with a remarkable group of individuals and organizations that are committed to meeting the needs of the local workforce and businesses. I look forward to working with the TWIB, TOSCS staff, and its partners as we continue to strive in our mission to provide the highest quality of workforce development services available during these increasingly challenging economic times.”
