Sonitrol Pacific System Detects Burglary, Arson

Boise, ID, November 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Police arrested two juveniles suspected of the arson and burglary of Hollywood Market after the store’s Sonitrol Pacific security system detected suspicious activity October 29.

Operator Minta Christopherson received an impact-activated audio signal from the store just before 5:00 a.m. and heard faint sounds of movement and clattering. She dispatched Boise Police. While officers were en route, Christopherson continued to monitor real-time audio from Hollywood Market and heard glass breaking. Moments later, she heard officers arrive.

Upon arrival, police officers smelled smoke and saw flames. They used a fire extinguisher to hold the fire until firefighters arrived.

Police located the suspects walking near the market and found a blow torch and other evidence linking the two juveniles to the events at the store. According to officers, the fire was set as part of a burglary attempt.

The fast response by Christopherson, Boise Police and Boise Firefighters kept damage to a minimum and the store opened on time.
