IPA Supports Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

Buffalo Grove, IL, December 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October, IPA has taken an active role in support of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

IPA employees participated in Lee National Denim Day, the world’s largest single-day fundraiser, and Passionately Pink for the Cure™. Participants donated $3,600 and showed their support to eradicate breast cancer by wearing denim or pink. John Burgess matched the employee donation for a total of $7,200. IPA also raised $1,422 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation by sponsoring two bake sales.

Lee National Denim Day is the world’s largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer. On one Friday in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lee® Jeans encourages millions of people nationwide to slip into their favorite jeans and make a $5 donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Participating businesses and organizations allow employees and members to wear denim in exchange for a $5 donation to the Komen Foundation. Since 1996, Lee National Denim Day has raised more than $50 million for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.

Passionately Pink for the Cure™ is a fundraising and education program prepared in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The program encourages companies, schools and organizations to take that promise, make it their own, and make a difference by supporting breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, has invested more than $1 billion since inception in 1982. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, the organization is working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, and generous contributions from various partners, sponsors and fellow supporters, the organization has become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
