Intermark Media Holds Their 7th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

Every year for the past seven years, Intermark Media, along with its sister company Americorp, organizes a Thanksgiving Food Drive to accumulate as many individually-wrapped, non-perishable items as possible to give to the needy, allowing them to enjoy their own feast for Thanksgiving.

Woodbury, NY, December 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Intermark Media, a leader in performance-based interactive marketing, strives to maintain a level of excellence in its field, however, with the economic climate and the holiday season upon us, there is an emphasis placed on helping those less fortunate. Every year for the past seven years, Intermark Media, along with its sister company Americorp, organizes a Thanksgiving Food Drive to accumulate as many individually-wrapped, non-perishable items as possible to give to the needy, allowing them to enjoy their own feast for Thanksgiving.

Each year, Intermark Media’s Charity Committee supports the Education & Assistance Corporation’s Meals-on-Wheels program, which provides home-bound senior citizens and home-bound HIV women and children from the local area with meals delivered right to their door. The 2008 Thanksgiving Food Drive was a huge success, as Intermark Media and Americorp surpassed its goal of 17,000 items, as well as topping their previous highest donation of 25,000 items back in 2005. This year’s Food Drive delivered an astounding 26,326 individually-wrapped items to the EAC in Hempstead, literally filling their storage capacity. Intermark Media itself accounted for over 15,000 items, donated by their charitable and caring employees.

With the donation of over 26,000 food items from Intermark Media and Americorp, it will help feed 250 people a month for about 10-12 months. This allows the less fortunate to enjoy better health and sustenance for an extended period of time, as well as give them a sense of hope during the darkest of times. In addition to the food donations, a cash donation of $5,000.00 was also given to the EAC on behalf of Intermark Media and Americorp, contributing towards future purchases for the EAC and Meals-on-Wheels program as needed.

“We are amazed each year with the generous donations given by Intermark Media and Americorp, as well as the spirit and enthusiasm exhibited by the employees. These people give such a good feeling to those in need during these bleak economic times. Without these donations, we would be forced to shut our doors and not supply people in need with anything at all, so we are forever grateful” said Carol O’Neill, Regional Director for Senior and Nutrition Services at the EAC.

“During this difficult time in our economy, it was very humbling to see everyone so willing to give back and donate to such a great cause. These selfless acts really show you how dedicated we are to reaching our goals” said Daniel Agurto, member of the Intermark Media Charity Committee.

About EAC & Meals on Wheels
The Education & Assistance Corporation (www.eacinc.org) supports the Meals on Wheels program, and has been since 1990. The Meals on Wheels Association of America is the oldest and largest organization in the United States representing those who provide meal services to people in need. MOWAA member programs throughout the country, such as the Education Assistance Corporation in Hempstead, provide nutritious meals and other nutrition services to men and women who are elderly, homebound, disabled, sick, or at risk. These services significantly improve the quality of life and health of the individuals they serve and postpone early institutionalization.
