From Healthcare to Hospitality: IBA Consultants Secures Prominent Miami Projects

Boca Raton, FL, January 09, 2009 --( For more than a decade, IBA Consultants has provided a wide range of expert services to the construction industry to meet any building envelope need. Today, Mark Baker, president of IBA, proudly announces the addition of two Miami contracts for the firm’s expanding hotel/resort and medical center portfolios: The Fairwind Hotel and Mt. Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center, Greene Pavilion.

As part of the restoration of the historic Fairwind, a five-story, 70 room building located in heart of the architectural district of Miami Beach, IBA will provide services relating to the project’s glass and glazing, exterior wall, waterproofing, and roofing systems. A partial list includes architectural drawing and specification review, shop drawing/submittal review, site inspection and onsite testing.

IBA’s scope of work for Mt. Sinai’s Greene Pavilion provides consultation for the project’s exterior wall and window replacement components, including architectural drawing and specification review, shop drawing review, special inspection and testing services.

According to Baker, the firm’s expertise in these areas has grown over the years.

“Architects and developers around the country first learned of us through our work on significant high-rise developments in South Florida, Tampa Bay and Las Vegas,” states Baker. “It wasn’t long before they recognized that the cladding, glazing and roofing factors impacting those buildings also impacted their mid-rise construction plans for schools, hospitals, hotels and public use buildings.

“Through this specialization in building exteriors, we were able to provide unique and accurate insight and counsel for projects like the Four Seasons Hotel & Tower, Dolphin Concourse Expansion, Jackson Memorial Hospital and Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts. Today, we’re pleased to add our experience to that of our construction colleagues for these two great projects.”

With eight offices located throughout the United States, IBA Consultants ( is the country’s foremost building envelope consulting firm, specializing in the identification and elimination of potential and existing wall cladding, glazing, glass, roofing, and waterproofing system failures.
