A Toast to the Triangle™ Releases Podcast with TLC Family

Raleigh, NC, January 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Mary Freeman, president and CEO of the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, has announced the release of a new podcast featuring commentary from Janine Slater, the mother of Deuce Slater, a child at the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. In the podcast, Slater provides an inside look at the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities by discussing her family’s affiliation with the center. Podcast questions addressed include:

Tell us a little about your connection to the Tammy Lynn Center.
How did you hear about the Tammy Lynn Center?
In what ways have you seen Deuce grow through the Tammy Lynn Center?
What impact has the Tammy Lynn Center had on your family?
What advice do you have for families that have children with developmental disabilities?

The podcast is now available for download at: www.atoasttothetriangle.org/home/presskit/Podcasts.aspx

Stay-at-home mother, Janine Slater, describes herself as a professional taxi cab driver, and the “proud mom of Deuce.” She resides in Raleigh with her husband, Chad Slater, and son, Deuce. Janine most values the time she spends with her son; volunteering in Deuce’s classroom is one of the things she loves most. She considers herself to be the voice of Deuce, which she believes is her most important job right now.

To help support the Tammy Lynn Center, Raleigh plays host annually to an event called A Toast to the Triangle. Held annually in Raleigh since 1986, A Toast to the Triangle raises funds for the Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation, Inc., which in turn supports programs and services of the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. The Center provides educational, residential and family support services for children and adults with special needs.

The 2009 Toast will be held on March 8, 2009 at the North Carolina State University McKimmon Center in Raleigh. Last year, more than 1,200 guests were in attendance, helping raise $212,000. To purchase tickets for this year’s event or for more information on donation and sponsorships for the Toast, please contact Maria Hernandez at (919) 755-2667 or e-mail mhernandez@tammylynncenter.org.

“The Tammy Lynn Center has helped our family tremendously,” says Slater. “Before, we did not know just how much Deuce understood about the world around him. After working with his teachers, he has grown so much and has the greatest little personality. I am really proud of him and all of his accomplishments.”
