Sonitrol Pacific Detection Results in Arrest of Repeat Offender

Hillsboro, OR, April 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspected burglar April 5 who was already on probation for a previous offense as he attempted to flee an Oregon School after Sonitrol Pacific security detected activity.

Award winning Sonitrol Pacific Operator Michael Young received the initial security system activation from the school and listened to real-time audio to determine what was happening on site. Only hearing the HVAC, he called the guard service to check on it. Young continued to listen and monitor activity at the school, and soon heard bangs and sounds of movement. He immediately dispatched sheriff’s deputies.

Officers arrived within five minutes and spotted a man running from the school. They caught up with him and took him into custody.

According to officers, when they arrested him the man had a bag filled with tools designed for breaking into buildings. He also had a record of several prior burglary arrests and was on probation for a previous conviction.

School officials credit the response of the Sonitrol Pacific security system, Young and sheriff’s deputies with saving the district money from losses due to property damage and theft.
