Monica Smiley and Leah Brown Speak at 2009 Global Summit of Women

Raleigh, NC, May 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Enterprising Women magazine (www.enterprisingwomen.com) has announced that Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO, and Leah Brown, CEO of A10 Clinical Solutions, Inc., and member of the publication’s advisory board, were selected to speak at the 2009 Global Summit of Women, held May 14-15 in Santiago, Chile.

Smiley participated in the Summit’s session on “Media and How It Defines Women in Business,” in which she addressed whether women in business are being utilized sufficiently by the media in the United States as experts, commentators or featured business personalities. She also explained what she thinks should be done to ensure that women receive the same amount of fair media coverage as men do. Brown participated in the session titled “Second Chance: Overcoming Fear of Failure.” In this session, she discussed business challenges she has experienced as an entrepreneur, lessons she learned from those experiences and how women can prepare themselves for successful careers as entrepreneurs.

The theme of the 2009 Summit was “Setting New Paradigms of Political and Business Leadership,” underscoring the impact of women who lead governments and businesses of all sizes. The annual event celebrates women’s leadership worldwide by bringing together women business, professional and governmental leaders to explore practical strategies and best practices in accelerating women’s economic progress worldwide.

“I was honored to speak at the Global Summit of Women,” said Smiley. “This is an outstanding event that focuses on the emergence of women as leaders and I am glad that I was able to provide insight into how the media defines women in business.”

“As women continue to take on additional leadership roles in both business and their communities, it is important that they have a forum to exchange information and advice,” said Brown. “The Global Summit of Women is a great opportunity for women business leaders to exchange ideas with each other.”
