Nancy McFarlane to Seek Second Term on Raleigh City Council

Raleigh City Councilor Nancy McFarlane (www.raleighnc.gov) has announced that she will seek a second term on the Raleigh City Council.

Raleigh, NC, July 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Raleigh City Councilor Nancy McFarlane (www.raleighnc.gov) has announced that she will seek a second term on the Raleigh City Council. Some of McFarlane’s goals for the upcoming term include responsible growth and attention to environmental impact, improving transit options, and increasing transparency between the city and residents.

Since joining the Council in 2007, McFarlane has worked to increase lateral pay for police officers and start an education benefit to retain them, supported new tiered water rates to put an emphasis on long-term conservation, and passed an increase in impact fees so that current taxpayers will not have to pay for costs associated with growth when the economy recovers. She currently serves as chair of the Council’s Comprehensive Planning Committee and a member of the Budget and Economic Development Committee.
