Wake County Economic Development and Allied Automation Discuss Local Medical Device Industry

Raleigh, NC, July 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Wake County Economic Development (WCED) (www.raleigh-wake.org) has announced the official release of its second video profile for “Raleigh-Wake County Business Showcase,” a video series profiling locally-based companies that continue to grow and remain competitive during the nation’s current economic slowdown. The second profile features the Apex-based company Allied Automation, full-service automation group that offers a complete system integration of custom automation equipment from conceptualization through design and fabrication. As a center of technology, research and healthcare, Wake County has several resources desired by medical device companies.

The Allied Automation video features commentary on the Triangle’s medical device industry, including interviews with Jeff Graham, company president, and Nathan Marshall, engineering manager, as well as Conni Tucker, assistant executive director for WCED. In the video, they address how the industry is faring in Wake County and what makes the region an attractive destination for not only medical device companies but also businesses in general.

The Allied Automation video profile is now available for download at www.raleigh-wake.org/page/wake-county-economic-development-and-allied-automation-discuss-local-medical-device-industry.

The “Raleigh-Wake County Business Showcase” series is hosted by WCED and made available to the public by way of a free download at its Web site. General announcements alert the media and public when new videos are available for download. Featured companies are selected from across Raleigh and Wake County.

The new video series represents one of many social media and new media projects planned or currently underway for WCED. WCED now hosts a blog on its newly redesigned Web site, as well as a section for online news and audio podcasts. The recently launched Twitter account for WCED is hosted at: http://twitter.com/KenAtkins.

“We are excited to announce Allied Automation as the second video profile for our new business showcase series,” said Ken Atkins, executive director for WCED. “From conception, prototyping, development and manufacturing, Wake County has the resources that so many medical device companies need.”
