Metal Detector for Transformerboard / Paperboard Detects FE 0,5 mm Particles

The German company Cassel Messtechnik GmbH has recently developed new metal detector for isolation material industry.

Dransfeld, Germany, August 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The German company Cassel Messtechnik GmbH with headquarters in Dransfeld near Hanover has recently developed a new metal detector for the isolation material industry. It detects ferrous particles with a diameter of down to 0.5 mm.

Up to now, only x-ray-technology has been able to detect 0.5 mm particles in up to 8 mm thick board material. However, the new metal detector – named COMBI-TU – is much cheaper. It only costs about one third of a respective x-ray-machine.

Besides iron and other ferrous material the COMBI-TU also detects lead, stainless steel and aluminium. Even thin pieces of foil of any metal kind are reliably detected. X-ray machines, in contrast, detect for example aluminium foil considerably bad. The reason for this is the low density of aluminium.

Therefore, the COMBI-TU is the optimal choice for board material produced in widths up to four meters, in all industries that need to detect preferably small metal pieces.

The electro industry is one of these industries. Here transformer-boards or paperboards serve as isolation material. For example they are used in the big transformers of the power grids.

Even small metal particles in the isolation material cause considerable quality defects, as they decrease the withstand voltage of the components. At worst the contamination only reveals itself at the commissioning of the big and expensive components.

The COMBI-TU is available from now on. Contact person for further questions is Dr. Matthias Schulz, Research & Development.
