MBA Jobs Market: Ivy Exec Reports HR is Coming Out of the Hiring Freeze

A recent surge in hiring contracts may indicate that the crisis in the executive job market might be reversing.

New York, NY, August 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- For the job market, 2008 turned out to be one of the hardest years in history, with executives especially affected by the crisis in an unusual way. Many MBAs nearing the end of their programs were impacted when leading companies that used to flock to exclusive job fairs decided to cut their budgets and stay at home.

Even amid the economic downturn, 85% of Ivy Exec members have remained optimistic and expect to not take a pay cut on their next executive job. It is worth mentioning that 30% of the respondents have a base salary of 200k+.

“In the past 2 months, we have seen a steady increase in hiring contracts. While 2008 seemed to have been a candidate-screening year for most HR managers, these past few months suggest that leading companies are coming out of the hiring freeze and actively seeking executives for very senior positions”, said Sharon Sauli, Ivy Exec’s VP of Sales.

For the most part, Ivy Exec members are passive job seekers, an invaluable asset for any company. Based on recent research, these professionals who usually search for executive jobs in big corporations are turning their attention towards the entrepreneurial sector and the investor backed start-up world.

“We had a solid 71% of our members expressing interest in these new ventures. Since July, the number has gone up by 20 points. The first signs of life on the employer side came from smaller companies seeking accomplished executive talent. As was expected, our Fortune 500 clientele is coming back into the game”, said Silvana Carpanelli Hayes, VP of Marketing. “It should make for a very interesting fall recruiting season”.

Ivy Exec’s client retention rate remains at 85%, thanks to their ability to provide results and bring exclusive opportunities to executives around the world. The Ivy Exec Team agrees - “Employers and Investors love to hear our success stories, and it is Ivy Exec members who inspire us to work harder every day”. One of these many stories, include the recent placement of an INSEAD alumnus in a high exposure position with a leading luxury products manufacturer in Asia.
