Ambeck Enterprise Announces the Launch of the Invisible Mentor Blog

Professionals today can get almost anyone to mentor them by using "invisible mentors." The only limitation is a lack of accessible information about the unique leaders they would like to mentor them.

Toronto, Canada, August 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Ambeck Enterprise, a writing and research firm, announces the launch of its blog, “The Invisible Mentor”. The blog is an alternative mentoring model and training tool that uses information: book reviews, interviews of highly accomplished people, articles, tips and tricks, and resources to mentor professionals, enabling them to build a diverse body of knowledge to ultimately achieve personal and professional success.

The “Invisible Mentor” concept is not new, and most people have “invisible mentors” though they have never attached a label. Washington State University Professor Karen L. Peterson defines an “invisible mentor” as a unique leader who you can “learn things from” by watching them over a period of several years. And, Marsha Sinetar, best known for her bestselling book, Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow, takes the concept a step further. In her book The Mentor’s Spirit Sinetar talks about a mentor spirit being “almost anything that deepens our sense of the sacred or our understanding or transmits a kind of gladness about life itself.”

“Invisible Mentors” are now more important than ever with contracting workforces and less traditional mentors to go around. According to Avil Beckford, President of Ambeck Enterprise and Chief Invisible Mentor, “The concept of the “invisible mentor” has important implications for members of historically underrepresented groups such as women and visible mentors who have not had the opportunity to participate in traditional mentoring relationships. With internet and other technologies, an “invisible mentor” is at anyone’s fingertips and professionals can get almost anyone to mentor them. The only limitation is lack of accessible information.”

The Invisible Mentor had its first blog post in March 2009. The blog has a diverse array of posts targeted to self-leaders and diligent learners who are willing to take the initiative and be mentored in non-traditional ways. Past blog posts include: Could Nature be Your Mentor, Thinking Without Borders, Professional Development on a Budget, 20 Lessons from a Cobbler, Review of Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most, Small Changes, Very Different Results, Role Reversal – A Review of The Little Father, and 10 Great People, and Their Favourite Tweets.
