Hudson, NH, September 29, 2009 --(PR.com
)-- Typically when one thinks of recycling they don’t picture heavy machining, aluminum fabrication, metal forming, and plasma cutting. However Gilchrist Metal Fabricating Company of Hudson New Hampshire recently made the shift to utilize entirely renewable wind energy for use in their contract assembly and metal fabrication facility.
Jack Gilchrist, president of Gilchrist Metal Fabricating Company says that the change is significant for a number of reasons. Not only is the company’s progressive use of renewable energy an example for other fabricators, but the company’s choice is also significant because, as Gilchrist explains, recycling and the steel industry go hand-in-hand.
“We’re one of the original recycling businesses – I don’t know who recycled before steel fabricators, and all quality steel has recycled steel in it. We’ve been committed to recycling as long as we’ve been in business—this is a continuation of that—and now we’re in year 33.”
Gilchrist explains that “we don’t have a windmill on our roof or anything” but maintains that the company’s switch towards renewable energy is a “win-win,” indicating perhaps for other companies that renewable energy is something even the most energy intensive companies can take advantage of.
The aluminum and stainless steel fabrication facility performs contract assembly, metal bending, forming, and welding—services that many might not equate with renewable energy. However, coming from an industry deeply rooted in recycling, Gilchrist Metal Fabricating Company is proud to offer the same service with a continued dedication to sustainability.
