Homeminders Supports Federal Emergency Management's National Preparedness Month

Homeminders - helps prevent home and weather related emergencies and supplies expert information and tools to reduce property damage and injuries to homeowners and their families.

Scottsdale, AZ, September 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In a September 1, 2009 statement, The Department of Homeland Security’s Secretary, Janet Napolitano joined Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Craig Fugate in announcing September as National Preparedness Month.

Homeminders®, the flagship product of Ethix Media, joined Ready.gov’s National Preparedness Month coalition earlier this year and has been preparing for yesterday’s announcement. During the month of September, Ethix is launching new features and content while hosting awareness events on-line and at its Scottsdale headquarters. Information can be found at www.homeminders.com.

According to Jack Cleeves, Founder and COO Ethix Media; “We’re excited to participate in the program and are buoyed by the progress we’ve made and our alignment with the goals stated by Secretary Napolitano.” In the statement, Secretary Napolitano declared:

“National Preparedness Month is about building a culture of personal preparedness and shared responsibility across our country.”

Cleeves continued, “With the expert advice and automatic timely alerts Homeminders provides, we put into action a process to support the culture and the individual homeowners!”

In the release, FEMA Administrator Fugate also stated. “By taking a few simple steps now, each of us can make sure we are better prepared for the next emergency or disaster.”

Since its introduction in 2006, Homeminders has delivered reminders and helpful advice to reduce maintenance related home emergencies. Personalized, monthly reminders are sent to highlight important steps to take to reduce the danger and potential failure of installed systems. Over 600 reminder task are in place including: checking plumbing to stop flooding, reviewing electrical dangers to reduce home fires and installing and checking carbon monoxide and smoke detectors to save lives.

In coordination with National Preparedness Month, new checklists and articles have been published. According to Cleeves, “The next announcement – also expected later this month – will introduce the launch of our newest feature, WeatherSafe™!”

WeatherSafe will be included as a free feature in all Homeminders subscriptions and delivers to the homeowner real-time severe weather alerts combined with expert advice on how to prepare, react, and recover when dangerous weather strikes.

According to David Gray, Vice President, “With these advances, Homeminders has evolved into an automatic alert system that provides our customers with advance notice of potentially dangerous or costly events. Our goal is to give you enough time and the expert information so you, your family and your property are protected.” Gray continues, “We really want people to have the peace of mind that comes with knowing they’re prepared and that they won’t get caught off guard. We provide tools and resources to help make that feeling a reality.”

Homeminders is available as through an annual subscription (retail price $29) and is distributed for free through corporate sponsors. During September, other Ready.gov coalition organization members should visit the Homeminders site to learn how their organization can offer Homeminders’ subscriptions to employees and members at no cost.
