Greensboro, NC, September 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Aspiring Entrepreneurs Flock to Startup Event Sponsored by Local CEO Roundtable

The Piedmont-Triad chapter of the C12 Group, the nation’s leading Christian CEO and business owner roundtable, sponsored a free business-startup seminar Saturday, August 29, drawing more than 165 aspiring entrepreneurs.

“The economic uncertainty has a lot of people thinking about starting their own businesses,” said Steve Andrews, the full-time Area Chair of Piedmont-Triad C12 Group. “Some of the people who attended Startup09 have been laid off, or are perhaps thinking the job they have isn’t as secure as it once was.”

In a series of four sessions taught by local C12 members, the C12 Startup09 seminar addressed many issues startups will face:

Session 1: Good Idea, Bad Idea? - assessing whether or not an idea will work
Session 2: Set-up 101 - surrounding yourself with key advisors and professionals
Session 3: Getting the Word Out - marketing, selling, advertising, web development
Session 4: Pitfalls and Surprises - avoiding costly mistakes

“We had no idea what sort of response we would get,” Andrews said. “We were hoping for 100, but we had to double our accommodations to keep up with the interest. We are excited that so many people are interested in business development. It’s our privilege to share with them what we’ve learned.”

There was a significant range of vocational circumstances represented at the event. Some had been recently laid off. Others were currently working a job, but considering leaving to start their own business. There were several people who were attending on behalf of their spouses, who had to work.

“I came away with a huge amount of information and a want to start my own business even stronger,” said conference attendee Anthony Leviner.
