Speed Venture Summit™ Previews Investor Lineup

Nashua, NH, October 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Speed Venture Summit™ vision is to help launch the best companies by providing them ready access to private capital. Organizers gave a sneak preview today of the investor lineup to which company execs will pitch at the October 28 Summit, the premier speed-dating-style event for fast-growth businesses and investors in New England, co-hosted by the New Hampshire High Technology Council and the New Hampshire Small Business Development Center, and brought to you by Gold Sponsor Comcast Business Class.

The 2009 Speed Venture Summit™ will once again “feature a rich mixture of the region’s leading private capital investors,” noted Summit investor chair Susan Woods. “On the venture capital side, companies will face such prominent names as Ascent Venture Partners, Borealis Ventures, Commonwealth Capital Ventures, Egan-Managed Capital, Harbor Light Capital, Launch Capital, Stage 1 Ventures and Windspeed Ventures.”

Jesse Devitte, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Borealis Ventures, explained, “The Speed Venture Summit is a well-designed opportunity for VCs to meet the next generation of great entrepreneurs and learn firsthand of their plans that will power the region’s innovation and job creation.”

Woods said that earlier-stage ventures will pitch to well-known angel investors such as Common Angels, eCoast Angels, First Run Angel Group, Fresh Tracks Capital, Granite State Angels, Maine Angels and Northeast Angels; while more mature businesses may pitch to mezzanine investors such as Arctaris Capital Partners, BDC Capital, Maine Small Enterprise Growth Fund or Vested for Growth.

Summit producer Tim Platt noted that “company applications had exceeded expectations, to the point where the deadline has already been extended once – to September 30 -- in order to give all interested parties a fair shot at pitching their growth stories. The selection committee has been overwhelmed, but we hope to be able to act on all the applications by next week, and inform each business accordingly.”

The Speed Venture Summit™ will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua, NH on October 28, 2009. Participating businesses will represent all sectors and development stages, from start-up to later-stage and will “speed pitch” to the region’s savviest and shrewdest investors, ranging from individuals and Angels to venture capital firms and private equity and mezzanine financers. Organizers expect that a total of approximately 50 companies will speed-pitch to 25 different investor groups in private 1:1 sessions throughout the afternoon.

The “speed-pitching” segment of the Summit will be held from 2:00 to 5:15 pm, and will be followed by a two-hour business networking session open to the public that will provide an excellent opportunity for young companies to gain exposure and knowledge around seeking investment capital. The event will end with a pitch-off from among the day’s top companies.
