Sonitrol Pacific Monitored Security Video Spurs Two Arrests

Portland, OR, November 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Two suspects earned felony burglary charges after Sonitrol Pacific monitored security cameras spied one inside the yard of Streimer Sheet Metal November 8.

Just after midnight, Sonitrol Pacific Operator Michael Young received an activation from a gate sensor at the facility. He saw an “intruder wearing a hooded sweatshirt slinking around the building” and called police. Young stayed on the phone with the dispatcher while officers were en route to keep police updated on the suspect’s activity. He watched the man continue to wander around, periodically stooping down, and saw him pick up and carry a large piece of metal.

Police arrested two men at the scene. Young observed one man attempt to make a break for it when police arrived, but officers quickly caught up with him.

According to officers, the men attempted to steal a metal piece valued at $900, making it a felony offense. One suspect was described as a “tweaker” with a previous record.

The two men will be arraigned November 12.
