Full Circle

Hitchin, United Kingdom, October 04, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Attendees of City Information Group’s (CIG) Open Day were treated to a stand up routine - complete with (partial) costume changes – during the RM group’s chairman, Manny Cohen’s presentation about ‘Who is a buyer and who is a seller?’

Using a routine based on an 1960’s sketch featuring John Cleese, Ronnie Corbitt and Ronnie Barker, Manny illustrated the three major links in the information chain and how the industry is changing as technology advances.

Manny presented his speech as part of a focus on the changing relationships within today’s workplace at the CIG’s annual open day and AGM, which was held Tuesday 26th September at the St. Bride’s Institute in the city of London.

He concluded his act with this summing up: “When I asked who was a buyer and a seller at the beginning I would say that, even today, the biggest sellers are also the biggest buyers of information. The so-called end user is not really the end user, the end user is all of us in this room as individuals. We pay for it all, we are the real buyers of data because the cost is charged to us in everything from taxes to bank charges. But we in turn use that information in our daily lives. We then create actions and information, which is fed back into the system to create more information, that gets bigger and greater to allow more decisions to be made. So really it is a circle, the more technology advances the more all parts of the information chain can buy or collate - and finally sell - to other parts of the same chain.”
