Business Coaching Will Help Big C Cancer Charity in the UK to Increase Donations by £200000 in One Year

Roger Pemberton is participating in the global Coaching for a Cause initiative, which aims at helping the non-profit sector raise at least $2.5 million overall in funds and donations within the next six months.

Las Vegas, NV, November 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- As Big C Cancer Charity begins preparations for its 30th year, it is working with partners on the further development of two of its four major goals - the provision of care and support for those affected by cancer. Big C's other key objectives remain keenly in focus; providing funding for equipment and world class research for families and individuals affected by cancer in Norfolk and Waveney.

“Our most immediate challenge is to implement a fundraising campaign for our 30th Anniversary, which will secure new income for the current as well as following years, whilst working hard to bring in the anticipated income, ahead of this year’s global financial challenges,” Head of Fundraising, Cathryn Parrish said.

Despite the obstacles placed by the recessing economy, the organization is looking up. It will receive pro bono business coaching from the world’s leading business and executive coaching firm, ActionCOACH.

ActionCOACH founder and CEO Brad Sugars recently launched the company’s first-ever global cause-related marketing campaign, which is helping non-profits and charities from all walks of life raise donations and better manage their funds. The program, which is known as Coaching for a Cause, promises to help non-profits and charities all over the world raise at least $2.5 million in funds and donations over a six month period, ending March 31, 2010. The combined value of this service is $1.8 million.

Business Coach Roger Pemberton has enrolled the Big C cancer Charity into the program to help it raise its annual donations by at least £200,000 in the next twelve months.

Parrish is excited about the coaching process.

“We have a new team, with an exciting challenge, and some great plans. We’d like to explore this perspective with our coach and see what value can come from shared discussion,” she said. “Our challenge is to do this within an already stretched agenda.”

Pemberton, who has lost family members to cancer in the past, is appreciative of the efforts of Big C in the areas of cancer research and support in the Norfolk area.

The key goals of this organization are to provide vital equipment, invaluable support, care and world class research for families and individuals affected by cancer in Norfolk and Waveney.

Of the £14 million raised by the charity since its foundation in 1980, a large portion has been devoted to funding critical research carried out at the University of East Anglia and local hospitals.

“Thanks to this funding, local medical staff and research scientists are working on new ways to diagnose and treat a range of cancers,” Parrish said.

“Continuing this essential research into cancer identification and treatment requires constant investment, and there are always a range of important projects in need of funding.”

In addition, Big C has opened a Family Cancer Information and Support Centre at the Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital. This facility provides vital access to information and support services for families affected by cancer across the region.

Over the next few years Big C's Chief Executive, Daniel Williams and his team are focusing on the provision of care for those affected by cancer in Norfolk and Waveney.

Parrish believes Coaching for a Cause to be a powerful initiative.

“I imagine both businesses and charities will gain valuable insights from this initiative and help create a powerful impact,” she said.
