ActionCOACH Teams Up with the Agape Community Center in Atlanta for Pro Bono Business Coaching

Business coaching will help the Agape Community Center increase its donations by 10% within six months through ActionCOACH’s global Coaching for a Cause campaign.

Atlanta, GA, December 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Marcy Cowan, a Business Coach with the world’s leading business and executive coaching firm, ActionCOACH, belongs to a national mother-daughter philanthropy called National Charity League (NCL), which supports 15 charities in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

One such charity is the Agape Community Center, serving underserved and underprivileged families in Bolton Road, Atlanta.

“When ActionCOACH announced the Coaching for a Cause campaign, I signed up the Agape Community Centre to participate in this massive initiative along with fellow coaches from all over the world,” she said.

ActionCOACH founder and CEO Brad Sugars launched this program to run for six months (from October 2009 through March 2010), during which time top Business Coaches will donate coaching hours to their favorite charities and non-profits, with the overall goal of helping them increase donations and funds by at least $2.5 million. The combined value of this service is $1.8 million.

By donating about five hours a month to this charity, Cowan’s goal is to help her client increase donations by at least 10% over the next six months.

“Agape makes a huge difference in the lives of needy families by creating community and offering after-school programs, mentoring and senior citizen programs,” she said. “In addition to helping it increase donations, I will also be working on improving the charity’s visibility within the community.”

Agape started as an outreach ministry of Trinity Presbyterian Church for the Bolton Road Community, an underserved and economically challenged community.

“We serve as a support for the community by offering a variety of programs and services for underserved and economically challenged families,” Executive Director Nell Benn said. “Agape offers a day program for senior citizens, after-school and summer programs for the youth as well as emergency assistance and case management services.”

Striving to provide the tools and resources needed to end the cycle of poverty, Agape works to create a sense of hope for impoverished families, by creating opportunities leading to self-sufficiency. Yet, a lack of space is one of the main challenges facing the organization.

“My long-term vision is to replicate the Agape model in other parts of the city,” Benn said. “Through the business coaching process, we will now learn effective strategies and techniques to successfully run our non-profit so we can get closer to our vision.”

Having recently completed their annual Back to School Celebration in which 750 children received back packs with school supplies, Benn is now gearing up for their annual Thanksgiving basket give-a-way.

And helping them give back more this year is ActionCOACH.

“Coaching for a Cause is an absolutely wonderful initiative, which speaks volumes about ActionCOACH and its willingness to give back to the community,” Benn said.

Coaching for a Cause is an innovative, new program from ActionCOACH, the world’s number one business and executive coaching firm that makes pro-bono coaching available to charities and non-profits worldwide.
