)-- A Promising Partnership with Lifesaving Results:
PerSys Medical is proud to announce the signing of an exclusive licensing agreement with Baylor College of Medicine. The agreement will encompass product development and the commercialization of technology disclosures developed and owned by BCM into products for the field of Emergency Medicine and Trauma. The first product, jointly developed by Baylor and PerSys, will be introduced to the American market in 2010.
“Recent work has demonstrated that certain aspects of cervical spine trauma have been poorly understood” said Michael H. Heggeness, M.D., Ph.D., Chair of Orthopedics, Baylor College of Medicine. “The technology licensed by PerSys has great potential to significantly improve the way in which a wide variety of accident victims are stabilized and treated.”
Baylor College of Medicine, the only private medical school in the Greater Southwest, is recognized as a premier academic health and science center known for excellence in education, research and patient care. Located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Baylor College of Medicine has affiliations with eight educational hospitals, each highly regarded. The licensing agreement with PerSys Medical was executed by the Baylor Licensing Group, which is responsible for all licensing and option agreements for the commercialization of technologies developed by Baylor scientists.
PerSys Medical began in 1988 as Performance Systems and has since evolved from a small marketing firm into a world leader in emergency and tactical medical innovations. The company is dedicated to seeking and developing new products with an in-house R&D team focused on meeting global demands. PerSys Medical maintains a vast network of worldwide distribution channels, reaching customers in their respective countries, languages and cultures. Technologies are utilized locally, where they matter most, and globally, where they have the greatest impact. PerSys Medical has influenced various levels of care in over 50 countries. “This agreement is a milestone for our company,” says founder and CEO Ofer Molad. “Following our tradition of bringing life-saving innovations to market, we are delighted and proud to partner with BCM. We are confident that their academic and research prowess combined with our engineering background and marketing outreach will result in medical devices that fit our mutual goal - saving lives”
