Continental Disc Corporation Introduces the New Well Activation and Safety Protection Valve Specifically for Downhole Drilling Applications

Liberty, MO, January 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Continental Disc Corporation has introduced a new product for use in downhole drilling applications. The Well Activation and Safety Protection Valve uses rupture disc technology to release pressure to activate tools already in the hole or to protect downhole drill components from overpressure failure.

Offered in two configurations, Type A and Type I, the Well Activation and Safety Protection Valve can replace shear pins and other moving devices in most applications and saves valuable time and labor on the drill site. The Type A configuration is intended to prevent dangerous pressure spikes from the annulus and the Type I configuration protects drill pipes, casings and downhole tools from over-pressure within the tubing or drill string.

The Well Activation and Safety Protection Valve can be used in several applications during drilling, cementing, perforating, completion and production including triggering the release of fishing grapples and releasable spears and activating controls in the bottom hole assembly (BHA). Standard rupture disc material is Inconel® 600 (other materials available upon request).

Established in 1965, Continental Disc Corporation is a leading manufacturer of rupture disc devices for a variety of process industries, including chemical, petrochemical, petroleum refining, pharmaceutical, beverage, food and dairy, aerospace, gases, electronics, and other markets worldwide.
