ACCA Singapore and ASME Sign Inaugural Memorandum of Cooperation to Help SMEs

London, United Kingdom, February 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- A new partnership to help small and medium sized businesses in Singapore has been launched today with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and ASME (Association of Small and Medium Enterprises). The two bodies will work together to develop a framework of cooperation on training and development as well as joint networking opportunities from which members of both organisations can benefit.

Helen Brand, ACCA Chief Executive, said: "SMEs in Singapore are a key pillar to economic development and play a vital and crucial role in the country's success. The Singapore government's pro-business policies and active encouragement of entrepreneurship has led to even further growth in the SME sector. Our MoC with ASME will further provide our members who work in SMEs as well as small business owners with the support they need to remain in touch with business developments and thereby remain competitive in strengthening the economic future for Singapore."

Annie Gan, Vice-President Member Relations, ASME said: "ACCA and ASME share a similar goal which is to help facilitate the growth of SMEs. This MoC that ASME and ACCA signed today will certainly further enhance ASME's many activities and channels that have already been in place to serve its members. In addition, it is also an example of how ASME constantly strives to work with other key associations to deliver benefits for our members. With this collaboration, we are able to tap on ACCA's knowledge to ensure that SMEs are equipped with sufficient knowledge and expertise for their business operations."

In its first collaboration under the MoC, ASME will be a supporting partner of ACCA's Annual SME Conference to be held in September. The conference will concentrate on repositioning the SME sector for business growth as they come out of the economic downturn.
