Sepideh Asefnia Appointed to North Carolina Department of Commerce Economic Development Board

Raleigh, NC, March 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Sepideh Asefnia, president of SEPI Engineering & Construction (www.sepiengineering.com), has been appointed by Gov. Bev Perdue to the 2010 North Carolina Department of Commerce Economic Development Board. The North Carolina Economic Development Board oversees state economic development research and planning and makes policy recommendations to the Secretary of Commerce, the Governor and the General Assembly. Comprised of 37 members, the board includes state government officials, Governor-appointed business and nonprofit representatives, as well as members of the N.C. House of Representatives and N.C. Senate.

Details:
- The North Carolina Economic Development Board provides economic and community development planning for the state; recommends economic development policy to the Secretary of Commerce, the General Assembly and the Governor; recommends annually to the Governor biennial and annual appropriations for economic development programs; and develops and updates annually a comprehensive strategic economic development plan.

- Asefnia serves as the chair of the board of directors for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she serves on the TrustAtlantic board of directors, the N.C. State University Board of Visitors, the Duke Raleigh Hospital board of advisors, and is past chairman of the board for the International Affairs Council.
