ASU Interior Design Students Get Real World Advice from Unique Concepts, a NC Furniture Manufacturer

Wendell, NC, April 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The owners of Unique Concepts, Inc., - a NC-based furniture manufacturer - recently gave a special presentation on wood veneers and millwork techniques to faculty and students in the Interior Design Department at Appalachian State University and to the members of the Industrial Design Society of America's ASU chapter.

"We're always happy to share our industry knowledge - especially within North Carolina. Our state has such a rich history of furniture manufacturing and we take a lot of pride in mentoring the next generation of professionals in this industry," said Lynne Leach, owner of Unique Concepts.

Leach added, "Because the students have been learning how to specify materials for interior design projects, we focused our presentation on projects that incorporated interesting and unusual materials and veneers."

The presentation also included a half-scale model of a custom reception desk and a question and answer session on construction and millwork techniques.

Donald Corey, the advisor for the IDSA at ASU, said, "I know that the students really enjoyed the presentation, and the way the owners of Unique Concepts showed how they incorporate different and wonderful materials to express each piece."
