NAPO-NY Members Volunteer to Organize Crown Heights Community Mediation Center Office

Seven of NAPO-NY members spend a few hours creating a more productive work environment for the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center.

New York, NY, May 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In NAPO-NY’s ongoing efforts to help organizations and individuals get and stay organized, 7 members of the New York chapter volunteered their time to assist the staff at the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center with organizing their offices. This project is part of the chapter’s year long activities in support of GO Month (Get Organized) which was started by the National Association of Professional Organizers in an effort to highlight the benefits of working with NAPO’s professional organizers.

As the center is staffed by volunteer workers who are constantly sharing workspaces, the goal was to organize the desks so that all essential items were accessible, create a go-to area for community resources, and organize the common areas – filing, conference room, supply cabinet, and kitchen. The organizers who participated in this project included Karen Guccione (GO Committee Chair), Margaret Langston, Angela Kantarellis, Klara Carames, Wendy Glickstein, Katie Boyer and Collette Shine.

The center’s staff was very receptive to the guidance and suggestions made by the NAPO team especially in light of the critical work that is done by this organization. “Because we rely on an ever-changing pool of volunteers it is important that we have clear, organized systems so that different people can help clients efficiently and get them the most helpful information in the least amount of time. In a few short hours, the NAPO volunteers helped us transform our office into a place where we can find what we need immediately. Already clients have come into our center and noticed the difference,” stated Amy Ellenbogen, Director of The Crown Heights Community Mediation Center.

“We were extremely pleased to partner with The Crown Heights Community Mediation Center and to help them re-organize their office. The Center provides a vital service to the community, it is essential that the staff’s time is devoted to resolving disputes and not hampered by a disorganized work environment,” stated Diana Soll, President of NAPO-NY.
