Gold Coast Airport Transport Crisis

A recent visitor to the Gold Coast tells his story of being left stranded at the airport of Australia’s #1 tourist destination.

Gold Coast, Australia, August 10, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Peter and his family had booked his holiday to the Gold Coast taking benefit of the recent specials offered by local airlines only to find no taxis available - “we didn’t realize that the airport was around ½ an hour away from our accommodation…we waited I would say what felt like almost an hour before a maxi taxi arrived that we shared with others that where waiting…”

“We honestly believed that a destination that relies on tourism would be better served than this and it definitely did not get our holiday off to a good start…it really is a long day by the time you get everything organized to start your holiday, get to the airport, fly for 2 hours and upon landing at the airport find that you again have to wait..”

“Things certainly went better after that, the Gold Coast truly is a beautiful place and for the journey home our accommodation house booked a limousine which the kids loved ..”

Transport services at the Gold Coast Airport are available from taxis, buses and limousines.

Rod at mygoldcoastlimo.com, a local transport service, had this to say – “It’s unfair to say that there is a transport crisis, the taxis have to service the entire community not just the airport and at peak times that can stretch them to the limit. There needs to be more awareness made of the other options available. There are buses available and also pre booked services such as limousines and charter buses all of which are cost effective for our visitors and take the load off taxi services.”
