Access Information Management Hosts Data Privacy Protection Event with Oregon Community Credit Union

Event provides data privacy education, document shredding resources and environmental benefit to the community.

Pleasanton, CA, May 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Access Information Management, provider of records management, storage and destruction services for hardcopy and electronic records co-hosted a multi-location, educational document destruction event with the Oregon Community Credit Union (OCCU) to promote the safe destruction of records with confidential consumer information.

Access teamed with the Oregon Community Credit Union to educate the local community about data privacy protection through a multi-pronged outreach campaign. Throughout the month of May, Access and OCCU each featured privacy protection information on the web and teamed to provide co-branded data privacy protection information to OCCU members via newsletters and OCCU member mailers. Access placed secure document destruction collection consoles at OCCU branch locations and partnered on a two-day shred fest at two local OCCU branches on May 14th and 15th.

During the two-day event, volunteers from Access and OCCU gathered documents brought by participants and loaded them into secure document collection bins for destruction. Approximately 17,900 pounds of unneeded personal records were loaded to the Access mobile shred truck and destroyed on site; maintaining the data privacy of the individuals participating. In keeping with Access’ green business practices, 100% of the resulting paper material waste was recycled.

“By all accounts the event was a huge success. We provided hundreds of individuals in the Oregon Community Credit Union family with both educational and document destruction resources to support data privacy protection. The event also made a positive environmental impact through the recycling of post-event, shredded paper materials; diverting thousands of pounds of waste from local landfills,” said David Gesinger, Executive Vice President, Operations, Access Information Management. “We are very pleased at the outpouring of positive support received from the community and plan to offer additional, no-cost shred events through the Access Eugene and Portland locations in the coming months.”
