Cyprus DMC Industry Prepares for Major Boost to Meetings and Incentive Services

Cyprus DMC Premier Destination Management discusses some upcoming and already underway exciting new projects in Cyprus. These major projects including a marina, luxury hotels, conference and business centres, will provide a great boost not only to the Cypriot meetings and incentives industry, but also to business travel in the region.

Limassol, Cyprus, June 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In tandem with celebrating its 50 years as a Republic, Cyprus is undergoing some exciting developments directly affecting the business travel sector via major projects including luxury hotels, golf courses, major Conference Centres, new restaurants, activity clubs and a lavish marina. Having recently overhauled both international airports, and as an already established destination for seminars and conferences, these major projects seek to boost the reputable portfolio of this beautiful island. As Olga Xanthou-Kondo, Managing Director of Premier DMC, a Cyprus destination management company with over 20 years experience in the local industry states:

“These new developments show the continued innovation and growth regarding services in Cyprus, which can appeal to yet another target audience of our clients, the event organisers. Our job as a Cyprus DMC is to suggest the best possible ways in which to take advantage of these new services based on your event objectives.”

Further to recent discussions of government with neighbouring Qatar, Cyprus is moving ahead with construction of a luxury development in its capital Nicosia. This will include a five star hotel, apartments and offices spread over 50,000 sq metres of prime real estate in the business centre of the capital. Its estimated value is over $150 million and the project is aimed at the increasing numbers of visitors to the island. The joint venture deal with Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company and the government will add fantastic business facilities and all accompanying resources to the capital.

Meanwhile the island’s second largest city, Limassol, located on the south coast, has already started construction on a 300 million euro luxury marina. The marina will house several hundred births, restaurants, cafes, shops and a stunning conference centre, all overlooking the waterfront, providing a major boost to not only Cyprus but the entire Mediterranean and Middle East regions due to the prime strategic location of the island. Private villas with moorings and luxury apartments geared towards the yachting market will also be available as real estate options. Expected to be operational in Autumn 2012, the marina will be run by world renown marine leisure management Camper & Nicholsons. Olga says: “This ambitious tourist development follows the recent movement of the island aimed at providing luxury accommodation and accompanying upgraded services to cater for special interest tourism and in particular business travelers. The exceptional conference facilities at the marina are expected to give a real boost to the Cyprus meetings and incentives sector.”

Last but not least, in September of this year, Cyprus celebrates its 50 years of independence as a Republic. Accompanied by island wide cultural events, a formal celebration will take place at Eleftheria Square (Freedom Square) in Nicosia, attended by the president and marked by a host of artistic and musical events by Cypriot artists. Furthermore, the anniversary will be celebrated internationally, with events including a London musical recital and reception event at Lancaster House, where the historic Zurich agreement was signed, starting the process leading to the islands independence. Art exhibitions, theatre productions and concerts, again featuring Cypriot artists and internationally renowned orchestras are also planned in major world cities including Athens, Moscow, Brussels and Paris to name but a few.
