Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (www.hpg.com), the largest CPA firm headquartered and staffed in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, congratulates longtime client, Paul Simson, on his recent induction into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.

“Paul has been an HPG client and personal friend of mine for more than 25 years; we couldn’t be more happy for him,” says Dan Hughes, Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP founding partner. “I’ve had a chance to golf with him throughout the years. He is a talented golfer and certainly deserving of recognition for his lifetime accomplishments in the North Carolina sports scene.”

Simson, along with six others, was inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony on May 13. Throughout his amateur golf career, spanning more than four decades, Simson has won more than 200 tournaments. These include the Carolinas Amateur, Carolinas Senior Amateur, N.C. Amateur and N.C. Mid-Amateur, as well as the British Seniors Open Amateur twice.

“Being inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame is a tremendous honor,” Simson says. “I enjoy the game more and more each year, and I am thankful to have met so many great people along the way.

Simson also finds success in the business community. Since 1985, he has been with Stan Taylor Insurance, an independent insurance agency that works with an array of clients from individuals to large companies and focuses on the construction, retail trades and manufactured housing sectors. He plays an integral role with the agency, helping the team grow to 10 employees. In 2001, he became president when founder Stan Taylor retired.

Simson credits HPG for being a partner in the company’s success. “HPG has consistently provided timely and quality accounting support for us,” Simson adds. “Their team members are always available and willing to consult on numerous types of financial issues, beyond just accounting.”
