North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association Names 2010 Appalachian Mountain Veterinary Conference Award Recipients

Raleigh, NC, August 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (NCVMA) (http://www.ncvma.org) has announced the recipients of the NCVMA’s 2010 awards, which were presented at the Appalachian Mountain Veterinary Conference. The Fourth Annual Appalachian Mountain Veterinary Conference was held June 24-27 at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C. Award winners were recognized for their contributions to veterinary medicine in the state of North Carolina.

2010 award recipients include:

- Distinguished Veterinarian of the Year: Dr. Jack Broadhurst, DVM, the Cat Health Clinic in Pinehurst. The Distinguished Veterinarian of the Year award is based on lifetime achievement and career contributions to veterinary medicine.

- Veterinarian of the Year: Dr. David Bristol, DVM , associate dean and director of Academic Affairs at NC State College of Veterinarian Medicine. The Veterinarian of the Year award is based on outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine during the past year or several years.

- Martin Litwack Award: Dr. Sandy Albright, DVM, Crossroads Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh. The Martin Litwack Award is based on outstanding contributions to the NCSU-CVM and the veterinary profession in N.C.

- Outstanding Recent Graduate: Dr. Jennifer Federico, DVM, VCA Cornerstone Animal Hospital in Cary. The Outstanding Recent Graduate award is given to a recent graduate who exhibits outstanding medical, communication and leadership skills, who is actively involved in the profession, is dedicated to serving clients and patients, and who contributes to his/her community.
