Tuthill Corporation Earns a Spot on 2010 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America: Building a Competitive Advantage with Passion

Monarch Beach, CA, September 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Tuthill Corporation, today announced that it made this year’s InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. This is the second year in a row that Tuthill’s IT department has received this acknowledgment. The 2010 list was revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference taking place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, CA.

CEO, Jay Tuthill, was more than excited by the news. Tuthill said, “2009 gave Tuthill no choice but to get serious. After years of talking a good game but making only measured progress, we took the plunge and re-plumbed most of our key business processes. The load this put on our I.T. organization was enormous, but the team responded unbelievably well. All it took was terrific talent, clear direction, and lots of hours: Lots of hours. When the reprieve called 2010 arrived at our doorstep, Tuthill was well on its way to realizing the benefits of process excellence. I’m thrilled for everyone involved that Tuthill was named to the InformationWeek 500!”

In 2009, Tuthill got serious about becoming a process-based company. With a background in lean manufacturing and a Conscious Company culture, Tuthill pulled together cross-functional teams from around the world to redefine the fourteen key processes that define everything that they do. Assembled by enrolling individuals that shared the passion to dream big and get the job done, these teams partnered with Tuthill’s talented I.T. department to create and enhance the technical plumbing that is critical to the success of the business. The Tuthill I.T. team enabled innovative projects such as customer self-service and supplier portals, a suite of online tools dubbed the customer service “toolbox,” improved financial reporting, simplified credit management, and a streamlined flow of information to the shop floor. The decision to build these solutions in-house instead of buying packaged solutions has clearly provided Tuthill with a competitive advantage. No one else has the set of tools that Tuthill’s I.T. department has built. They are now part of Tuthill’s “secret sauce.” The line between being an I.T. person and being a partner with the business has become more blurry than ever before and that’s a good thing. As the people at Tuthill continue to work together to achieve common goals, this alignment, including the clarity that fourteen global processes provide, is already leading to direct financial gains. Productivity is up and so is Tuthill’s bottom line.

“For 22 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “As we start to emerge from the worst recession in decades, the IT focus is now on driving growth—new sources of revenue, new relationships with customers, even new business models. This year’s ranking placed special emphasis on those companies and business technology executives leading that charge.”

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Top winners have included: CME Group, Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
