B-TEK Scales’ Southwestern Scale Dealer Location in Arizona, Fabricates Solar Powered Truck Scales

Solar powered truck scales can operate efficiently while taking advantage of the abundance of solar energy in many parts of the country.

Canton, OH, October 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Harnessing the sun’s energy is not a new idea, but powering a few truck scale with solar energy is an innovative solution. Southwestern Scale in Phoenix, Arizona seized the opportunity to install multiple truck scales, powered with solar panels.

Dean Dumont of Southwestern Scale Company explains the solution. "We chose to run the scale off solar due to the location of the scale.

"There was not power at that site of the mine. A challenge we faced was making the poles to hold the solar panels. During our summer Monsoon season, winds can become excessive and we had to ensure our design would last in the storms.

"The digital scales are 25’L x 18’ W and use the D-800 indicators. Scales are primarily weighing CAT 769 and CAT 775 haul trucks. We also have Touch Panel PC computers in each truck that is running software."

B-TEK Scales, LLC strives to continuously implement new and exciting technologies into their truck scale products. From creating the first all stainless steel truck scale, to the all digital Centurion truck scale, the only scale of its kind in North America and their full line of floor and bench scales fabricated in the USA, B-TEK Scales is your custom scale solution partner.
