NuuKo: A Marketplace for Enterprise Expertise

New company offers a platform allowing people with executive-level expertise to redefine how they work; offers enterprises a new way to find & retain the expertise they need.

Washington, DC, November 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- If the trio of entrepreneurs in their 60s-plus who co-founded a company called NuuKo are correct, people with executive- level experience are going to have a compelling new way to work. And for some one million Baby Boomers who have such experience and will reach the traditional age of “retirement” within the next five years, it will offer the ability to leave the world of “having a job,” while still being useful, staying current, and generating income at a schedule, from a venue and at fees they control.

NuuKo Chairman and co-founder Doug Poretz says the company is a new type of marketplace. “If you craft and sell quilts, or if you provide technical skills such as web design, there are online marketplaces offering a platform to sell products or services,” he says. “But if you have expertise in a specific area such as healthcare IT or government reform, built over decades of working at senior levels, you cannot sell that expertise unless you join or create a company. The Knowledge Economy isn't really an economy unless the most important asset, knowledge itself, can be monetized. So we decided to create the marketplace where that can be done.”

The company's website, www.NuuKo.com features a selection of brief videos where thought-leaders on enterprise issues talk about trends, opportunities and problems, case studies and business models that are of high interest to today’s decision-makers. Although the site has just been launched, the inventory of videos is already fairly extensive, with provocative content being posted every day.

Once at the site, visitors can browse the credentials of NuuKo's Enterprise Solutions Experts (ESEs) who can be retained either singly or with others to form a team with a robust range of perspectives and areas of expertise. NuuKo says that it expects to announce that some of the world’s most respected consulting firms will also be joining the NuuKo marketplace.

Poretz has a 40+-year background in creating and executing communications campaigns as a member of the senior management team either on a retained or in-house basis. Most recently he co-founded Washington, DC-based Qorvis Communications, named Public Affairs Agency of the Year by the Holmes Report. He is joined by Bruce Finland, a successful serial entrepreneur who has grown successful companies in broadcast journalism, distributed education, software, and real estate development. Each of his business successes has been characterized by their pioneering pursuit of new niches and the use of new models. The third co-founder is George Norsig, widely-regarded as a thought-leader about the consulting industry, with credentials established over the course of a long career at the senior levels of McKinsey and Monitor consulting firms.

“Enterprises are facing huge challenges and opportunities at a time when cost effectiveness is critical. Speed and efficiency are foremost on the agenda. On the other side of the consulting equation, there are large numbers of retiring C-Suite baby-boomers and other highly-seasoned professionals who want to contribute in meaningful ways, but who don’t want the burden of creating their own consulting business. NuuKo is the marketplace bringing the two together,” Norsig said.

Norsig added that NuuKo provides a new alternative to enterprises who currently use a consulting firm as well as to those who never used a consulting firm because they did not know of a trusted resource where they could find the expertise they specifically needed. “Global enterprises are accustomed to consulting models that usually have a high price tag attached. NuuKo can provide the enterprise with the exact expertise needed quickly and efficiently at a fraction of the cost.”
