Portable Storage Containers Prevent Leaks

The National Portable Storage Association offers records storage alternative in the wake of the WikiLeaks scandal.

Kansas City, MO, December 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- WikiLeaks, a whistleblower site, recently released 250,000 confidential cables to the public, a move that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called an attack on America and the international community. She said the leaks are a "tear in the fabric" of responsible government and the Obama administration is taking "aggressive steps to hold responsible those who stole this information."

This isn't the first time WikiLeaks has posted classified information. Just months ago, U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen called WikiLeaks' decision to leak of tens of thousands of Afghan war documents appalling. Mullen said the military would do everything possible to avoid leaks in the future.

Even if it’s not a matter of national security, the Wikileaks incident shed a spotlight on the importance of information security. Companies storing paper records should consider a portable storage unit. Portable storage units can offer a secure dwelling place that also frees up office space, according to said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director of the National Portable Storage Association, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry.

“Portable storage units are steel—so they are more secure than wooden containers or even internal filing cabinets,” says Finnessey. “What’s more, you can add bars to containers with windows and even install security alarms on the units. If you need a secure storage place on your industrial or commercial site, look to portable storage containers with enhanced security solutions—and avoid leaks.”

Portable storage containers can not only help companies avoid information leaks, they can also eliminate water damage from leaks and moisture that can seep into some storage alternatives. The water-tight, secure storage containers are made from galvanized steel, keeping out mold and other contaminants that can erode the contents.
