)-- The Mather, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Evanston, Illinois, operated by Mather LifeWays, received two Gold Awards from the National Active Retirement Association (NARA). NARA recognized The Mather as being among the best of the best in the 50-plus and senior housing industry with a Gold Award for Best Continuing Care Retirement Community and another for Best Amenities in a Retirement Community. The Mather is one of only two nominees that received two Gold Awards which were presented at the NARA annual conference in October 2010.
The Mather features a 10,000-square-foot fitness center complete with a 20-meter indoor lap pool, seven dining venues and lounges, including rooftop dining with views of downtown Evanston, Lake Michigan and Chicago’s skyline; 24-hour concierge service; and “plant-your-own” garden plots as part of nearly two acres of lush gardens. As a CCRC, The Mather also offers onsite health care, if needed.
The two buildings are located at 425 and 450 Davis Street and will be connected by a convenient, climate-controlled underground corridor. The Mather is one of the Chicago-area’s newest and most comprehensive retirement communities, offering a full continuum of care from independent living through skilled nursing care.
The Mather is the latest addition to a family of senior living residences created by Mather LifeWays that strives to offer older adults the opportunity to pursue engaged and active lifestyles.
“Our judges were extremely impressed with our top winners in the retirement design/build category because of their focus on enriching the lifestyle of their residents,” NARA Director Dan Owens said in press materials. “Mather LifeWays has a track record of reinventing a retirement lifestyle for their residents. We are thoroughly impressed with the philosophy of active aging that this organization promotes.”
“We are extremely proud of this honor because it exemplifies how we create Ways to Age WellSM for older adults, and the high level of amenities and services that we offer at The Mather,” said Mary Leary, CEO and President, Mather LifeWays. “We are equally pleased that the second phase of the community is on schedule and to open Fall 2011.”
