Modesto, CA, December 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Industrial Electrical Company recently contributed 79 shoe boxes filled with Christmas presents and 14 individual Cash Donations to Operation Christmas Child, an annual outreach service of Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational Christian organization providing worldwide spiritual and physical aid. This year's outreach initiative was organized by Industrial Electrical Company employees under the direction of Michelle Howell, Vice President/Owner.

Industrial Electrical Company's participation in Operation Christmas Child began in 2004. Each year IEC employees are encouraged to make individual contributions and participate in departmental teams. The teams are challenged to compete to determine which departments of the company can do the most to help children all over the world during the holidays.

According to Industrial Electrical Company's V.P. Michelle Howell, participating in Operation Christmas Child is an annual tradition for all the IEC employees. The company's 7 departmental teams donated a total of 79 shoe boxes and an additional 14 employees made Cash donations, surpassing all previous years. Over 60% of IEC employees participated in the program this year.

"I feel blessed to work with people that are willing to reach out to children in third world countries through this ministry, so people can hear the Gospel”, said Michelle.

This year, Operation Christmas Child is utilizing an EZ Give barcodes on the labels, enabling each shoe box gift to be tracked online. The IEC employees can receive e-mails revealing the destination of each gift, along with information about Operation Christmas Child in that specific country.

"Our family is excited about being able to track our shoe boxes to the country where they're being delivered," said Lenore Estrada, IEC employee. "We put in photos of our family and contact information; it would be fun to get a response."

In 2009, over 8 million children around the world received shoe boxes through the Operation Christmas Child program. “We’re taking boxes to children who live in garbage dumps, who live in war zones, who live in famine areas,” said Franklin Graham, President, Samaritan's Purse. “Kids who have no hope. When they get that shoe box, it’s a little beacon of hope, a ray of light that comes into their lives.”
