Kapp Alloy & Wire Celebrates 65 Years in Business

Oil City, PA, February 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Kapp Alloy & Wire Celebrates 65 Years in Business, Sees 70% Growth in 2010

Kapp Alloy & Wire, Inc., a leading solder, spraywire, and Babbitt manufacturer located in Oil City, celebrated 65 years of business in 2010 by growing sales by over 70%. During 2010, Kapp purchased new cold welding equipment, launched a new website (www.kappalloy.com) and certified new Precision Microcasting™ equipment designed and manufactured by Kapp Alloy’s production team. December also proved to be the most successful month for exports in the company’s 65 year history, adding new customers in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

2011 will continue to be a year of growth and expansion for Kapp Alloy. 2011 projects include overhauling the business’s ecommerce website, www.solderdirect.com. The revamped site will include a larger online product selection, a more secure online shopping environment, and the ability to post project photos and questions, along with a unique product search system. Kapp Alloy also plans to utilize a $7,500 DEP grant to help upgrade the heating and ventilation system in the production buildings.

In March 2011, PJ Wightman, Operations Team Leader, will be attending Advanced Dangerous Goods Training. The five day course covers the regulations for ground, air, and ocean shipping of hazardous materials like soldering flux. Ocean (IMDG) shipping will be a new certification, added this year in response to a large increase in ocean exports.

According to Wightman, “Since 9/11 the rules have changed to require much more knowledge and responsibility on the part of the manufacturer for the classification and handling of the goods being shipped. This has also greatly increased the documentation and certification requirements for the manufacturer. The course will help Kapp Alloy continue to provide the highest quality products and service to the widest range of customers possible.” Wightman has been a valued part of the Kapp Alloy & Wire, Inc. family for almost 30 years.
