Web Site Devoted to Fetal Surgery Wins Standard of Excellence Award

On September 13, 2005, the Web Marketing Association (WMA) awarded the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati with a Standard of Excellence WebAward for its web site at http://www.fetalcarecenter.org in the category of "Healthcare Provider."

Cincinnati, OH, September 19, 2005 --(PR.com)-- On September 13, the Web Marketing Association (WMA) awarded the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati with a Standard of Excellence WebAward for its web site at http://www.fetalcarecenter.org in the category of "Healthcare Provider."

The WebAward is an international competition recognizing web sites that meet the standard of excellence for which all corporate web sites strive. The award was bestowed upon the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati for outstanding achievement in web site development.

"This year we received a record 2,100 entries from 33 countries to compete in the 2005 WebAwards," said William Rice, president of WMA. "Here is how the award levels were determined. Each site was judged on seven different criteria, earning a score between 0 and 70 points. The highest score in a given category wins Best of Industry for that category. If the remaining entries received a score of 60 or greater, they received the Outstanding Web site award. Entries that scored between 50 and 59.9 receive the Standard of Excellence. A large number of sites do not win any award each year and non-winners are by far the largest category of participants."

The Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati web site went live in January 2005. Since its inception, it has been hosted and managed by Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in collaboration with Good Samaritan Hospital and The University Hospital, both of Cincinnati.

Timothy Crombleholme, MD, FACS, FAAP, pediatric surgeon and director of the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati, wrote nearly all of the content, with on-going contributions from other members of the center's team.

The Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati provides the world's leading experts in maternal-fetal care, fetal and pediatric surgery and pediatric subspecialty care for women with high-risk pregnancies.

"Our center, which is a collaboration among several well-respected hospitals, is the only fetal center affiliated with a top ten children's hospital, a top five university pediatric training program, two Level III maternity hospitals and three Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units," said Dr. Crombleholme.

All visitors to the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati web site can view in-depth information on fetal conditions, abnormalities, diagnoses, fetal surgery treatments and specialists.

For women with high-risk pregnancies, the site provides a 24-hour secured page to request an appointment at https://secure.fetalcarecenter.org/appointments.htm. The site also supplies information regarding travel preparations and interpreter services. For medical professionals, it helps with the patient referral process as well by providing numbers for emergency transfers, non-urgent cases and consultations.

As a winner of the award, the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati received a personalized WebAward certificate and was offered an award icon link that can be added to the center's home page. In addition, the center's web site will be highlighted on the WebAwards site .
