Bell and Stingray Digital Commit to Long-Term Relationship for Galaxie Music Services; Launch First Interactive Music Application on Microsoft Mediaroom

Montreal, Canada, April 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Stingray Digital, a Montreal-based provider of music services to multi-channel operators, announced today a comprehensive national agreement with Bell that covers a variety of music services and applications offered to Bell Satellite TV, and to Bell Fibe TV subscribers.

Including carriage of the Galaxie commercial-free pay audio service, Canada’s #1 independently owned audio service, the agreement supports the development and promotion of Canadian artists across multiple broadband platforms.

Bell Fibe TV is also the first in North America to launch the Galaxie Mediaroom Application. This exciting new application gives Galaxie users an enhanced, interactive experience that leverages the flexibility of the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV platform. The application allows users to browse all 45 channels and see what’s playing without changing the current channel, provides a pleasing look and feel to the Galaxie service and includes album art for the currently playing, up next, and previously played songs on each channel. Bell Fibe TV customers can also review the playlist of the last 24 hours of songs played on each channel, the most requested feature from Galaxie users.

“As an independent Canadian broadcaster, Stingray is thrilled to be working with Bell on such a comprehensive set of multi-platform services,” commented Eric Boyko, President of Stingray Digital. “The Galaxie brand has been built over 14 years in Canada and the service continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of Canadian music lovers,” he added.

“Bell is proud to partner with premier Canadian content developers such as Stingray to deliver high-quality entertainment products like Galaxie music services to Bell TV customers across Canada,” said Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Residential Services and Bell Mobility, and Bell’s Chief Brand Officer. “Partnering with Stingray underscores Bell’s commitment to offer the best in diverse Canadian media across multiple broadband platforms, supported by capital investments of approximately $3 billion each year and hundreds of millions in new investment to develop a range of Canadian content and programming with Bell Media.”

Bell TV now serves more than 2 million customers across Canada with Bell Satellite TV and next-generation Bell Fibe TV. Leveraging Bell’s multi-billion-dollar investments in advanced broadband networks, Fibe TV is bringing new competition and choice to key urban markets such as Toronto and Montréal, with more Canadian cities to follow this year.

The Galaxie pay audio service is available in all digital satellite TV, IPTV and digital cable homes in Canada.
