Seth Kahan Leads Seminar on "Growing Your Practice" for DC Consultants

Innovative leadership specialist and organizational consultant, Seth Kahan, led a free lunch and learn seminar for independent consultants at Chef Tony’s, Bethesda, MD, sharing techniques for successfully engaging CEOs and Executive Directors.

Bethesda, MD, May 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Seth Kahan led a 90-minute training session, “Seth Kahan on Consulting: Growing Your Practice” on Friday, April 29 at Chef Tony’s Restaurant in Bethesda, MD. There were more than 20 independent consultants and entrepreneurs in attendance.

Kahan, a successful consultant in the Washington, DC area, has worked with over 100 leaders of private sector organizations, government agencies, and associations (see http://bit.ly/KahanClientList). He shared tips to a full room of Washington, DC consultants on how to succeed as an independent consultant based on his extensive experience.

Session topics covered strategies and tactics to grow your practice, including techniques to help 1) evaluate what’s holding you back from the success that you deserve; 2) build the mindset that generates immediate and long-term growth; 3) identify and find your target markets; 4) build a brand that raises your esteem among your most valuable clients; and 5) create the pull that compels people to come looking for you; and 6) design referrals into your engagements.

Kahan provided key resources, both free and fee-based, to help consultants improve their effectiveness marketing to leaders. These resources include FreelanceFortune.com, Kahan’s blog that provides tips for successful consulting; his iTunes link to audio interviews with other successful consultants, http://bitly.com/iTunesFreelanceFortune, and SethMentor.com, the details of his award-winning mentor program.

Kahan says, “I am building a community of consultants who will provide each other the kind of support that has been instrumental to my success. Since 2002 I have been part of a world-wide community of consultants through my mentor, Alan Weiss. It is the single most powerful contributor to my success. We share marketing techniques and provide each other guidance on critical topics. Here in DC we will do the same, helping each other to excel and creating the collective support that turns great entrepreneurs into world-class practitioners.”

Kahan has been acknowledged as an expert and exemplar in change leadership and coached people for personal and professional growth since 2002. He was the first in the world to be certified by Alan Weiss – recognized as the global thought leader in successfully running a consulting practice - to provide the full set of Weiss' Mentor Mastery services. Weiss has created the most comprehensive mentoring community in the world, which includes several hundred active participants who meet regularly online and face-to-face to improve each other’s professional skills.

Chef Tony Marciante provided the menu. Marciante is a 23-year veteran of food and the former executive chef at the Bethesda McCormick & Schmick's. He has been featured on Channel 9 & interviewed by over 10 industry publications. He now runs Chef Tony’s (ChefTonysBethesda.com). Marciante provided a special prix fixe menu of $15 per person for attendee. No other charge was required for the event.

Kahan will host another lunch and learn at Chef Tony’s on Friday, May 27 from 12 noon to 1:30 pm. The topic for this lunch is drawn from the work of Kahan’s mentor, Alan Weiss, and will cover “Earning What You’re Worth: All About Value-based Fees.” More details can be found http://sethkahan052711.eventbrite.com/.
