Lion Precision to Continue Sensors Leadership Role at MTConnect Conference

The first ever MTConnect Conference will include sessions of the MTConnect sensors protocol and compliant equipment exhibited by Lion Precision.

St. Paul, MN, September 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The first ever MTConnect Conference (MC2) will be held November 8-10 in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Lion Precision will exhibit the only displacement sensor hardware that is MTConnect compliant. The conference has a business track and a technical track for forward thinking manufacturers preparing to implement the new MTConnect standard. MTConnect will empower manufacturers to monitor and control processes throughout local and remote manufacturing facilities. According to Don Martin, president of Lion Precision, “MTConnect enables machines to communicate information on nearly every parameter of the manufacturing process. Lion Precision is uniquely positioned to provide MTConnect compliant noncontact displacement sensors that can be used to monitor spindle performance including error motions and thermal growth as well as any other parameter requiring precision position measurements.”

Martin is the chair MTConnect’s Sensors Working Group which has developed the specific protocols for communication of sensor measurements. The MTConnect protocol is being used by Lion Precision for a joint development project with NASA’s Stennis Space Center – the earliest implementation of the sensor protocols of MTConnect. The NASA project includes a multiple-channel eddy-current displacement sensor system to monitor valve position in rocket engine test cells.

The MTConnect standard will open new markets for equipment suppliers, software developers and vendors, system integrators and consultants. The MC2 conference is expected to draw attendees from all of these areas as well as end users and manufacturers who will learn about the enormous potential benefits of MTConnect implementation.
