Brazilian Touch to Global Association

Fabiano Cid is committed to bringing creativity, charisma and solid professionalism to the new GALA Board position.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, November 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Ccaps Managing Director, Fabiano Cid, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) for the 2012-2013 term. "I am ready for the challenging position with the GALA Board," says Fabiano. "I have been closely involved with the association since its inception and I am not only a true admirer of its achievements but also a great supporter, including the recent GALA Standards Initiative, of which Ccaps is one of the main sponsors."

Fabiano was one among the four new GALA board members elected from a strong pool of nominated professionals who are veterans of the language services industry and have been long-time members of the association. As the Managing Director and founder of Ccaps Translation and Localization (www.ccaps.net), a company that has been providing language services in the Latin American region since 1999, he has nurtured Ccaps into a market leader in its segment.

"As a prominent industry representative of Latin America, a region that has grown in importance economically and politically in the past few years, I believe my profile suits perfectly well GALA's need to have as broad a geographic representation as possible on the board," he said.

Fabiano started his career as a translator in 1996 and later that year moved to London, where he worked as a freelance translator, returning to Rio de Janeiro to found Ccaps in 1999. For six years Fabiano was the Chairman of the Board of Milengo (www.milengo.com), when he raised the investment necessary for the company’s restructuring. He is also a very active member of the industry and is frequently invited to speak at conferences and write articles, especially in matters related to Latin America. Fabiano is one of the organizers of Think Latin America (www.thinklatinamerica.com/siliconvalley).

A combination of the creative capacity to think outside the box, the charismatic personality to establish long-lasting and solid relationships and the professionalism to take matters into hand that have characterized Fabiano's career give him the assurance that he shall not disappoint those who have trusted him with their votes.

The new Board will preside over growing member services for the GALA membership. Under the stewardship of the current leaders, GALA has introduced a number of new programs and initiatives, including the GALA Standards Initiative (http://www.gala-global.org/gala-standards-initiative). This year GALA launched its affiliate membership level for localization buyers, launched GALA Marketplace (http://www.gala-global.org/marketplace) and continued to expand its educational webinar program and local networking events. In 2012, GALA will hold its fourth conference in Monaco (http://www.gala-global.org/gala-2012-monaco).
