About Robert Tice Lalka

Rob Lalka serves in the Secretary of State’s Office of Global Partnerships, where he coordinates Partners for a New Beginning (PNB), the Secretary’s flagship initiative to deepen ties between the US and communities in targeted emerging markets around the world. With local chapters in eight countries, including Egypt, Indonesia, Turkey, and Tunisia, PNB has fostered over seventy new programs harnessing millions of dollars from the public sector, private sector, and civil society. Additionally, Rob coordinated partnerships for the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship and the President’s Forum with Young African Leaders; and while serving on the Secretary’s Policy Planning Staff, he wrote the State Department’s first Policy Framework and Legal Guidelines for Partnerships, which earned him the Department’s Superior Honor Award.

Previously, Rob worked in investment banking with Wachovia, consulted on partnerships at the World Bank and the UN, and served as an AmeriCorps volunteer after Hurricane Katrina. He is a graduate of Yale University, where he received honors in both English and history, and he holds his master's degree with a concentration in global public policy from Duke University. Rob has been a Presidential Management Fellow and a Truman National Security Fellow, and in 2011, he was named one of the Top 99 Leaders Under 33 by Diplomatic Courier.
